Have you ever seen those maps in the mall with the arrow and annotation that reads, “You are here“? How do they know where we are? Are they tracking us?
Today I updated my preferences on the Yelp app to include burgers (not boogers), Chinese (not come), and barbecue. Now, under recommendations, the app is suggesting burgers, Chinese (the food not the country or the communist political party), and barbecue. How does it know?
What miracle of technology exists that all I need to do is specify my preferences, and straight away it knows what I prefer? Amazing! The geniuses at Yelp spent a long time figuring that one out. Good going guys!
